The following email was received from Northamptonshire Highways at 4.30 pm today.
We have recently been made aware that Network Rail intend to close the westbound lane of the current contraflow at 20.00hrs tonight. The full closure will be in place until 06.00 hrs on Monday 13 May. Northamptonshire County Council have been liaising with all partners to mitigate the impact this will cause.
They will be carrying out demolition of the bridge this weekend (11-13 May). In addition to the existing westbound carriageway closure, the westbound lane of the contraflow will be closed between 20:00 on Friday 10 May and 06:00 on Monday 13 May. This is to ensure the safety of road users during the demolition.
The eastbound lane towards Rushden will remain open.
The A45 is the responsibility of Highways England and the bridge project is being carried out by Network Rail. We have raised concerns with both parties about communication and the effect on local roads and communities. We are assisting publicity, where we are able to, using the communication channels we have.
