Last week was Neighbourhood Watch Week and prompted by this the Parish Council thought it would be a good idea to ask the residents whether they would like to see this scheme resurected once again. Today the Neighbourhood Watch schemes are more than just crime prevention and are a lot more about the community as a whole. Local Neighbourhood Watch schemes work in a variety of ways that reflect the needs of the local community. This includes: sharing crime prevention advice and information; running awareness campaigns; holding social events and awards for local people and businesses; leading community projects, such as litter picks, a community café, flood defence response, presentations in schools and work with young people and children and community messaging with the police.
If you would like to see a Neighbourhood Watch scheme once again in our village then we would love to hear your comments. You can respond by commenting on this post or by dropping an email to the clerk at clerk@greataddingtonpc.co.uk We look forward to hearing your comments.
A great idea.
Yes
Would be very much in favour, not only as a useful tool for helping to keep residents safer, but the additional information on a variety of village events
Excellent idea. Formalises what is already happening in the community and raises awareness of how support can be accessed.
We ran the scheme when we first arrived in the village for a number of years. Only effective if people will participate and be proactive. The last one, despite our best efforts, just didn’t get the support. We would be in favour of having a scheme in the village.
Definitely in favour, I think we all follow the basic outlines of this scheme as a matter of course, but reintroducing the scheme can only be a power for good.
